SUMMARY:Puppet Theatre: Homeschool Program
DESCRIPTION:Puppet Theatre is designed for homeschooled students ages 5-9 (Kindergarten to third grade equivalent). Over the course of seven weeks\, participants will create puppets\, write and develop a puppet show\, and perform. Our last class on November 20 will be a performance of the puppet show to a live audience (parents and siblings that means you). This program encourages the development of creative writing\, public speaking\, and performance skills. Participants will also engage in social emotional skills by working collaboratively and developing creative personas. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required for this program and the capacity is limited. SUMMARY:Letters About Literature: Homeschool Program
DESCRIPTION:Letters about Literature is a nationwide program encouraging students to write letters to authors whose writing has impacted them. In conjunction with the Massachusetts Center for the Book\, the Elizabeth Taber Library is excited to serve as a pilot site for the Letters about Literature program in public libraries. Students ages 10-14 (4th – 8th grade equivalent) are invited to join us for a seven-week writing workshop aimed at producing a letter for an author to enter in the statewide Letters about Literature Contest. Participants will develop skills in personal writing\, literary analysis\, peer reviewing\, and editing.  \n\n\n\nRegistration is required for this program and the capacity is limited. SUMMARY:Lapsit Storytime
DESCRIPTION:Babies and toddlers up to age 24 months and their caregivers are invited to join us for lapsit storytime! This program is full of rhymes\, bounces\, and songs and is intended for children to sit in their caregiver’s lap. The content repeats each week and focuses on building caregiver familiarity with songs and rhymes and encouraging positive bonding experiences around the five Every Child Ready to Read early literacy practices: read\, write\, sing\, talk\, and play.

SUMMARY:Nursery Rhyme Time
DESCRIPTION:Kids ages 3-5 (and their grownups and siblings) are invited to join us for Nursery Rhyme Time on Mondays at 11 AM. Each week in Nursery Rhyme Time we’ll focus on a different rhyme or story. We’ll find it in a book\, read it out loud\, bring it to life with puppets or a sensory activity\, and do a craft. This 20 to 30 minute program will be held in the children’s room.Research shows that knowledge of nursery rhymes\, simple folk and fairy tales\, and childhood songs are predictors of reading readiness in kindergarten.
